If you're looking for a romantic and intimate way to tie the knot, eloping in Cornwall might just be the perfect option for you. With its stunning natural beauty and quaint coastal villages, Cornwall offers a picturesque backdrop for an elopement that you'll never forget.
One couple who recently eloped in Cornwall shared their experience, giving us a glimpse into what this type of wedding entails. They started by driving down to Cornwall from London, taking a leisurely route to enjoy the journey.
They chose a venue called The Green, which offered an outdoor setting for their ceremony. Although the weather wasn't perfect, they still managed to have a beautiful and memorable wedding, with the bride wearing her own handmade bouquet and centerpieces.
The couple stayed at a cozy and charming cottage nearby, which they found to be a perfect base for their elopement. They woke up on the day of their wedding and had breakfast together before getting ready separately.
Although they had planned to avoid seeing each other before the ceremony, they eventually decided to spend the morning together. The bride even enlisted the groom's help in making a last-minute flower crown to wear for the ceremony.

Their photographer captured the beautiful moments of their ceremony, which was held outside with the stunning Cornish landscape as their backdrop. The bride walked down the aisle alone, a decision that she made with her father's absence in mind.
After the ceremony, the couple celebrated with a lovely dinner at a nearby restaurant overlooking the harbor. Despite the pouring rain, they still enjoyed the moment and cherished each other's company.
Overall, eloping in Cornwall proved to be a romantic and intimate experience for this couple. If you're looking for a wedding that is stress-free and focused on the two of you, consider eloping in Cornwall for a truly unforgettable experience.
So what other things were involved in the planning of an elopement away in Cornwall you ask?
Lots! But don't worry, it's not as much as you might think at first. 1. The very first thing you should do is Research the legal requirements for getting married in Cornwall. I've made a simple list here to get you started. 2. Choose the right location: Cornwall has a wide variety of beautiful locations that are perfect for an elopement. It is important to choose a location that fits your style and preferences. ( My blog of the top 15 places to get married in Cornwall, will be out soon , so stay tuned. ) 3. Consider the season: Cornwall is known for its sea mists, which can occur at any time of year, but they are more common during the cooler months from autumn to early spring. The best time of year to avoid Cornwall's sea mists is during the summer months of June to August.
During this time, the weather is generally warmer and drier, which means that the sea mists are less likely to occur. However, it's important to note that the weather in Cornwall can be unpredictable, so it's always a good idea to check the forecast before planning any outdoor activities.
It's also worth noting that some areas of Cornwall are more prone to sea mists than others. The coastline around Land's End and the Lizard Peninsula, for example, are particularly susceptible to sea mists, while the north coast tends to be clearer.
Another thing to consider is how busy it will be during those summer months. I recommend talking to some people from Cornwall and see if they know good spots where there's either less people, or less chance of being hidden in that thick sea mist. All these things must be planned for ahead of time, So think Raincoats, umbrellas, or wellies just in case!
4. Hire a photographer: Cornwall has many stunning backdrops that are perfect for wedding photos. Consider hiring a photographer to capture your special day and create lasting memories. Personally I love capturing a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere. With fewer people and distractions, I can focus more on capturing the couple's unique connection and emotions. The location and timeline options are also more flexible during an elopement, allowing for stunning backdrops and landscapes that might not be possible at a crowded wedding venue.

Also having photos to share in the years to come are a great way to make other people that weren't there feel like they were and with a great creative photographer you can look back and smile, just like your children and children's children will when they see your incredible photo album.
