Everyone has a vision in their minds of what their wedding photos will look like. Usually it’s the shot of you walking down the aisle seeing your loved ones smiling, perhaps crying happy tears or cheering during your first kiss.
Then comes the day when you receive your images and all you see are Iphone's, and Samsung's where your closest and dearest friends and families faces should be! Disaster right!?
FEAR NOT!
For all you need is what we call an “Unplugged wedding”. Where during the ceremony all things electronic are removed/turned off. (SorryNotSorry to the crazy friend who wants to check the football scores on their phone part way through your vows)
This way you will have the comfort and confidence knowing you're getting beautiful photos by leaving the photography to the pros.

The process
Usually it is announced at the start of the ceremony to all guests that this is an unplugged wedding and everyone is reminded to turn their phones and cameras off and that you have paid for a professional photographer.
I’ve witnessed many ceremonies where people forget to turn their phones off and you hear a ringtone just at the wrong moment. Unplugged ceremonies reduce the chance of that distraction a lot.

Your guests shouldn’t be thinking about taking photos or videos. They should be there in the moment with you. Your wedding day is going to be one of the most important chapters in your love story. Everyone there should be part of it too.
Here are some examples of how some photographers shots have been completely ruined by guests more interested in getting photos or videos on their phones than actually living the moment with you.

After the ceremony, when you’ve both taken your first steps as a married couple the guests can go wild taking as many photos as they like. The wacky uncle who’s bought an old film camera to your wedding, or your friends who can’t wait to make the next viral TikTok video. They can all take part after the ceremony and you’ve both walked out hand in hand as newlyweds.

Doesn’t that sound so much better than the sea of phones?
Personally I don’t mind other people taking photos during the ceremony, but I do mind if it affects your photos, since you’re paying a lot of money for us to capture these precious moments. It would break my heart to have these fleeting moments ruined by someone getting in the way.
I hope this has helped you to decide which type of ceremony you want to have, If you are interested in having an unplugged wedding simply tell your celebrant and they will announce it on the day, you can even have signs made and mention it on your invitations.
